Enrollment in LAMP (Liberal Arts & Management Program)

In preparation for a career in business, undergraduates enrolled in the Life Sciences Scholars Program must also be admitted to LAMP, a highly selective, 3-year certificate program that is specifically designed to support the integration of the liberal arts and sciences with business. Key elements include:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 to apply and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 to remain in the program.
  • The strengths of the liberal arts and sciences tradition in the College: a well-rounded education that prepares individuals to communicate effectively, to think critically and creatively, to analyze and synthesize information, and to continue to grow and learn throughout their careers.
  • Substantial coursework in management, business law, computer applications and economics in the Kelley School of Business and the College. Selected courses include Introduction to Financial Accounting, Legal Environment of Business, Managing Business Functions, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics.
  • Seminars each year–open only to LAMP students–in which participants analyze the relationship between business and society and apply quantitative analysis and research methods to actual business problems under the supervision of faculty. Clients served in recent years by these seminars’ students include non-profit and social-service organizations, government agencies, and local businesses.

Enrollment in the Kelley School of Business undergraduate minor
